Friend of Israel,

Next week, the House will begin consideration of a continuing resolution and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Context: The NDAA includes important bipartisan pro-Israel provisions that we lobby for together year over year.

-
These amendments, sustained programs, and initiatives help expand the U.S.-Israel relationship, making both countries safer and more secure.
This year, in the continuing resolution, we are urging Congress to include $1 billion in emergency funding to reinforce Israel’s lifesaving Iron Dome missile defense system—as promised by President Biden.

The NDAA, as passed out of committee, authorizes $500 million in U.S.-Israel missile defense cooperation, including for Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow.

-
The bill also includes a provision, led by Reps. Michael Waltz and Elaine Luria, that would increase U.S.-Israel collaboration on post-traumatic stress disorder research.
Meanwhile, in another attempt to weaken our ally Israel, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Mark Pocan
[link removed]
filed an amendment this week to the NDAA that would require the Biden administration to halt the sale of precision munitions to Israel.

-
This amendment would strengthen Hamas's posture, cost Palestinian lives, and undermine America's strategic interests.
The bottom line: A strong Israel makes America more secure. America must continue to stand with our ally.

I will keep you updated as important pro-Israel legislation moves forward in Congress. Below are more key stories from the week.

#ANewEra: One Year Since the Abraham Accords

READ AN AIPAC MEMO

This week marked one year since the signing of the Abraham Accords between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain on the South Lawn of the White House—a historic milestone that has ushered in a new era of peace, prosperity and progress in the Middle East.

This breakthrough paved the way for Sudan and Morocco to also normalize relations with the Jewish state.

In the past year, we have seen many monumental achievements, including the appointments of ambassadors, opening of embassies, economic agreements and cultural exchanges.

-
We
[link removed]
highlighted many of these achievements on Twitter.A remarkable rescue mission: This month, in
[link removed]
the first joint humanitarian project between Israel and the UAE, Israeli and Emirati aid workers completed a daring rescue mission that saw dozens of women at high risk of Taliban reprisals spirited to safety from Afghanistan to Abu Dhabi.
Through AIPAC: You helped make the Abraham Accords possible.

-
Our work to promote peace and progress—through engagement rather than boycotts—has helped pave the way for these burgeoning regional ties.
What's next? We are asking Congress to support the
[link removed]
Israel Relations Normalization Act to strengthen and expand the these historic agreements.

Take action: Urge your members of Congress to support this bipartisan legislation, and to thank members who have already done so.

IAEA Defers Censuring Tehran as Iranian Aggression Continues
[link removed]
READ AN AIPAC MEMO

What happened? Despite continued Iranian escalation in its nuclear program and regional aggression, the U.S. and our allies will no longer pursue a resolution criticizing Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) following a
[link removed]
recent agreement .

Our view: This agreement does nothing to resolve the fundamental challenge posed by Iran's illicit nuclear activities and defiance of the IAEA.

-
The agreement has no consequences for Iran's ongoing violations, no transparency for inspectors, and no answers to crucial questions Iran has dodged for years about its covert nuclear activity.
Also this week:

-
[link removed]
Reports surfaced that Iranian security guards physically harassed female IAEA inspectors.

-
Iran acknowledged that it had

removed several surveillance cameras installed by United Nations nuclear inspectors at a centrifuge assembly site.

-
Despite U.S. sanctions, Hezbollah

organized a series of Iranian fuel deliveries to Lebanon.
The bottom line: The U.S. and our allies must fully enforce sanctions and increase the pressure on the regime.
