Did you know that Katie’s district experienced one of the largest amounts of population growth in California over the past 10 years?
CA-45 saw growth of more than 110,000 residents over the past decade—the most of any district in the entire state.
We’re energized by this growth, John, but this does confirm one thing: Keeping Katie in Congress will be more challenging than ever, and will require our organizing team and volunteers to reach out to more people than ever before.
That’s why making early investments now is so important; we must reach these new constituents as early and often as we can, build trust, and earn their votes.

While we anticipated growth in our district, we weren’t sure how large this growth would be until now. And with re-election coming up just around the corner in 2022, we need to start mobilizing now: to reach new CA-45 voters, introduce them to Katie Porter, and share what our movement stands for.
Doing this outreach is going to take considerable resources, especially when you take into consideration that Katie will have to go up against numerous right-wing opponents, heavy spending from the NRCC and GOP, and more. And given the fact that over $300 million was spent in an attempt to recall Governor Gavin Newsom just days ago—we can anticipate that no expense will be spared when it comes to Katie’s opponents.
