This past weekend, I reflected on twenty years since the events of 9/11/01. While 9/11 was a day of unspeakable tragedy, we also saw unparalleled heroism, with firefighters and police officers running towards danger. On 9/11, we were attacked, and instead of letting the fear polarize our country, we came together with record-breaking numbers of Americans volunteering to give blood, and with thousands of Americans stepping forward to serve our country in our Armed Forces.

Last week, 83% of respondents called on Joe Biden to release the transcript of his call with the Afghan President where Biden pressured him to “project a different picture…whether it is true or not” to “change perception” about the Afghanistan crisis.  

My amendment to the fiscal year 2022 budget to keep the Bureau of Land Management headquarters in Grand Junction passed the House Committee on Natural Resources unanimously with broad, bipartisan support.

Westerners deserve a voice in the land-use decisions that affect their daily lives, and it would be wrong to move the Bureau of Land Management thousands of miles away from the land it manages back to a faceless marble building in D.C. since 99% of the lands that the Bureau manages are West of the Mississippi. The bipartisan, unanimous support for my amendment demonstrates that the facts are clear: keeping the Bureau of Land Management’s headquarters in Grand Junction has always had broad bipartisan support.

My amendment is a big step in fighting off attacks to the Bureau’s Grand Junction headquarters. I will keep fighting to make sure that the Bureau’s headquarters jobs remain in Grand Junction and that western stakeholders continue to have a voice in public lands decision-making.

It was an honor to welcome 38 new citizens to the greatest country in the world during a naturalization ceremony at the Colorado National Monument. Their choice to become Americans caused liberty and the rights that keep us free to echo in the canyons of the Colorado National Monument!

These patriotic new citizens know that Americans are the most free and prosperous people who ever lived. They believe in our Constitution, and they cherish the freedoms that we so often take for granted. My promise to them is simple: I fight to protect and defend the Constitution so that our children will enjoy the same freedoms we cherish.

The Second Amendment had a big win when David Chipman’s nomination to be the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was defeated. Chipman is a radical anti-gun activist, and someone with his kind of partisan temperament should not lead a federal agency. I am pleased to have helped strong Second Amendment supporters hold the line and defeat this radical nominee.
