John, Colorado Turnout typically sticks to electoral politics but after hearing about the grievous actions of the Colorado Springs Police Department in Congressman Doug Lamborn's (R-CO) district we feel obliged to say something. On July 31st, progressives in Colorado Springs held a 'March for Housing' to combat homelessness and housing insecurity. During the peaceful protest, Colorado Springs police tackled and beat peaceful protestors. Now, the Colorado Springs Police Department is pursuing felony and misdemeanor charges for some of the protestors, blatant abuse of power and an attempt to silence progressive dissent. They want to have a chilling effect and make protestors think twice before protesting in Colorado Springs. The Chinook Center Community Legal Aid Fund is currently fundraising for legal fees for six protestors facing these charges. It is of paramount importance that we do everything we can to protect these victims of police brutality who are being charged for exercising their free speech. Can you pitch in to defend the six Colorado Springs protestors?
