Dear John,
Breathe Southern California is seeking to create a better future for us and our families by working to end diesel pollution in California.
Diesel emissions make our ongoing climate crisis worse, making it more difficult to keep our planet safe and habitable for our children. They are also a major public health threat—prolonged exposure poses the highest cancer risk of any toxic air contaminant and increases the risk of heart attacks, stroke, and chronic lung disease.
By working with community-based organizations, elected officials, government agencies, industry leaders, and other stakeholders, Breathe Southern California launched our End Diesel Now campaign, calling on the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach to end the use of diesel trucks to move cargo. The campaign is also educating local residents about diesel’s impact on people’s health, and is working to end the use of diesel fuel in California by 2030.
However, we can’t accomplish our goals without you. With your help, we’ll be able to strengthen clean transportation and energy policies, expand our educational efforts, provide much-needed patient services to those with lung disease caused by inhaling diesel exhaust, and of course, end the use of diesel fuel in California.
Join with us to end diesel pollution in our communities today.
