Join the National Constitution Center for free, live programs all day long Dear Friends, Happy Constitution Day from all of us at the National Constitution Center! Please join us all day for a wonderful lineup of live-streamed programs and discussions, starting with an inspiring Naturalization Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. ET and concluding with Gordon Wood and other great American historians discussing the legacy of the Founding Fathers at 6:30 p.m. ET. And please check out our just-posted We the People podcast, which explores the ideas that inspired the Federalist Papers. With appreciation, Jeff ★ SCHEDULE OF EVENTS ★ 9:30 a.m. Naturalization Ceremony Online (Register here) or On-site at the F.M Kirby Auditorium In recognition of Citizenship Day, fifty immigrants from across the globe will take the Oath of Allegiance to officially become citizens of the United States. 11 a.m. Preamble Reading and Kids Town Hall: Favorite Historic Figures Online (Register here) or On-site at the F.M Kirby Auditorium Join us to wish the Constitution a happy 234th birthday with a special reading of the Preamble to the Constitution. Following the reading, join us for our Kids Town Hall Featuring Favorite Historic Figures. Noon State of the Union: Civics Online (Register here) Dr. William R. Hite of the Philadelphia School District, Louise Dube of iCivics, and Sal Khan of Khan Academy discuss the state of civics education in the United States. 1 p.m. Constitution All-Stars Online (Register here) As we kick off our 2021-2022 Constitution 101 classes, Martha S. Jones, Hasan Kwame Jeffries, and Robert P. George return to share their knowledge and answer all of your Constitution Day questions. 2 p.m. Judges on Judging Online (Register here) or On-site at the F.M Kirby Auditorium Judges Stephanos Bibas, Cheryl Ann Krause, and Marjorie Rendell of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit join us to discuss how they approached some of the most significant appellate cases on last term’s Supreme Court docket. 6:30 p.m. The Legacy of America’s Founding Fathers Online (Register to attend online here) F.M Kirby Auditorium (Register to attend live here) Best-selling historian Gordon Wood, historian Edward Larson, author Emily Pears, and scholar Lucas Morel discuss Wood’s latest book, Power and Liberty: Constitutionalism in the American Revolution.
