The United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) was poised to respond as Hurricane Ida made landfall. The category 4 storm ripped apart lives, leaving widespread flooding, and damage in its wake. As the storm moved on disaster teams moved into position to begin the long road to recovery. When a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Haiti in mid-August, killing more than 2,000 people and injuring 12,000 UMCOR expedited relief to those who need it most. UMCOR’s grant provided financial support funding to two hospitals at a time of critical need. As the situation in Afghanistan unfolds, UMCOR is working with long-standing partners to provide humanitarian relief and is prepared to assist with refugee resettlement. The work of the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, UMCOR transforms lives and communities and acting as the hands and feet of Christ. In the midst of disaster, UMCOR is there, sharing His love and compassion while meeting people in the moment of greatest suffering. The love of Christ is transformative and active. When you support UMCOR, you demonstrate this love while joining a powerful Christian network that provides relief, response, long-term recovery grants, and addresses emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development. Those in need can’t wait. Give today.
