Earlier this week, Ayanna called out the National Association of Realtors for spending millions of dollars to derail the extension of the life-saving eviction moratorium.
During the 2020 cycle, the National Association of Realtors PAC donated nearly $4,000,000 to candidates and officeholders — making it the single largest donor PAC nationwide. And they’re putting renters at risk.
Renters don’t have a multi-million dollar PAC behind them, so Ayanna won’t stop fighting to save the lives of those at risk of becoming unhoused.
Safe, affordable housing is a fundamental human right, and evicting families during a pandemic isn’t just cruel, it’s immoral.
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated an already rampant housing crisis, especially in low-income communities and communities of color, where residents are already living in the aftermath of discriminatory policies like redlining.
That’s why Ayanna led efforts to extend the federal eviction moratorium in the first place — and it’s why she’s fighting to pass legislation to extend it for the duration of the pandemic.
Ayanna will continue to speak truth to power, and together we will guarantee housing as a right for all.
