The difference between how Republicans and Democrats have dealt with this pandemic has been staggering.
President Biden helped keep us healthy and safe by distributing the vaccine quicker, and he's giving Americans the faith we need to get back on our feet after a year out of work or on the frontlines of this COVID-19 pandemic.
Republicans on the other hand, have done the exact opposite. They've denied the facts and science on COVID-19, and they're continuing to block real relief.
Take my opponent Kevin McCarthy for example. He recently called Biden's initiative to get more people who work at large employers vaccinated "un-American." He's trying to turn this whole pandemic into an opportunity to advance his career through partisan political games, when we really need everyone to come together to end this.
Let me tell you what's un-American: We have the second highest per capita COVID-19 case rate in the world -- second only to Mongolia -- and getting more people vaccinated is un-American?
Good grief.
As a mother and a teacher, I'm afraid that if we don't stop the Delta variant, more and more kids will get sick. More people will have their futures put on hold due to missed school and job opportunities. And the sad fact is that more Americans will die. It may be hard to say, but it's the truth -- and it's one of the major reasons why I decided to step up and give Kevin the fight of his life right here in his backyard.
