Our voices and votes are powerful

Dear John,

Last summer, the Minneapolis Police Department murdered George Floyd. We took to the streets to demand justice and change in a movement that echoed across our country and around the world.  

Since then, we have jumped through every hoop to let the people of Minneapolis have a say in the future of public safety. This winter, I was one of over 22,000 Minneapolis residents who signed the Yes 4 Minneapolis people’s petition. We mobilized and collected 10,000 more signatures than we needed to put this amendment on the ballot, because across Minneapolis, we are united for change.  

Now, Mayor Frey and a handful of wealthy individuals are manufacturing confusion and using Republican-appointed judges in an attempt to silence our voices, steal our democracy, and protect their power. Voter suppression is happening right here in Minneapolis, and we won’t stand for it.

Don’t let a few wealthy, power hungry individuals suppress our votes and keep us from having a say in the public safety systems that we deserve. Rally for democracy and to #LetThePeopleVote: Friday, September 17, 3:00 p.m.  

We’re ready to expand public safety, create systems of accountability, and interrupt the status quo that has led to more violent policing, less accountability, and less safety for everyone - over, and over again.
