John – this is serious. This month, the Supreme Court let the most extreme abortion ban in the country take effect in Texas. Gov. Greg Abbott’s egregious law prohibits abortions as early as six weeks – before many people even know they are pregnant. It also allows private citizens to SUE anyone who helps people access abortion – and collect a $10,000 bounty.

This is a blatant attack on reproductive rights and freedoms, and with a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court, Republican-led states across the nation are pursuing similar policies.

But there’s hope. The DOJ has filed an EMERGENCY motion to block the law in Texas. And Speaker Pelosi just announced that the House will vote on the Women's Health Protection Act – a bill that would protect reproductive freedoms and defend health care providers' ability to provide abortion services. This law would strike down current state restrictions on abortion and prevent states from imposing new ones.
