This little girl was taught by her mom that no door should ever be closed to her. With hard work and faith, she could accomplish anything.
That little girl took these lessons to heart, and she dedicated her life to fighting for justice for the people of North Carolina.
She blazed a trail in public service. She went from public defender to judge — becoming the first African American woman to ever win a statewide election in North Carolina without first being appointed.
That little girl grew up to be the first African American woman to ever serve as Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
That little girl is Cheri Beasley, and now she is running for the United States Senate to open doors of opportunity for all of our families.
Cheri is Democrats’ best hope to win this seat, but she cannot do it alone.
