MADSA's newly elected leadership will present their plans for 2020 at the next General Body Meeting on Saturday, October 26 from 4-6 PM. We will also be voting on two resolutions — please take some time to review before we vote at the meeting:
The meeting will be held at CWA Local #3204 (279 Logan Street SE in Downtown Atlanta), which is one-story with an accessible entrance. The meeting will also be a potluck — please bring a dish if you are able! |

This Month's Speaker: Andrea Cervone
Our featured speaker at this meeting will be Clarkston City Councilwoman Andrea Cervone, who will discuss how her progressive slate, led by Clarkston Mayor Ted Terry, turned the city of Clarkston — the most diverse square mile in America — into one of the most progressive cities in the South.
Cervone is requesting Metro Atlanta DSA's endorsement for her re-election campaign. We will be voting on the Andrea Cervone endorsement resolution at the October general meeting. |

Douglass-Debs Dinner: "The Socialist Soiree of the Year!"

MADSA's annual Douglass-Debs awards dinner has become the event of the Left's holiday season, bringing together Atlanta's progressive community — from labor, civil rights and other organizations, as well as new and veteran MADSA members. The event also doubles as one of MADSA's biggest annual fundraisers. |

This year's Keynote Speaker is Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants union. In 2019, Nelson used social media and cable TV appearances — and her 50,000 union members — to pressure Congress into ending a government shutdown that stopped the pay of tens of thousands of federal workers.

|
Across the country, members of the Democratic Socialists of America have been elected to city councils running on platforms that reject capitalism and promote working class interests. Last week, Route Fifty spotlighted several socialist city council members from around the country, including MADSA's own khalid kamau of the South Fulton city council. |

1. Videography help needed for Douglass-Debs Dinner Are you a videographer? Do you have video equipment MADSA can borrow for an evening? Do you know how to run a live stream? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, we need you! We have some amazing speakers lined up for our annual Douglass-Debs fundraiser dinner on Nov. 9, and we're looking for comrades who can help or provide equipment to record high-quality video and/or set up a live stream of the speakers.
2. Ideas for new group meeting space We are exploring meeting space options for future MADSA general meetings. Do you have connections or know of any churches or organizations with meeting space available for rent? We'd love to hear from you!
3. Call for Harassment Grievance Officers If you are a DSA member with uncompromising principles and a talent for interviewing & research, please consider applying to be a Harassment & Grievance Officer.
