John,
I’m thrilled to share with you WCV’s report on our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan, which outlines our organizational growth, accomplishments, and learnings of the past four years.
Since we launched this plan, we elected strong environmental champions to office and held them accountable to bold policy action, grew our grassroots base of activated supporters, and drove environmental progress at the local and state levels. We also launched Evergreen Future as a political road map and accountability tool to advance the policies we need to secure a healthy and just future for Washington residents.

I came into the role of CEO during this plan and was drawn to the organization's thoughtful and strategic progress made. I saw WCV thoughtfully building political power in collaboration with impacted communities across the state. I am incredibly proud of the work our organization and staff have done to deliver historic wins for Washington’s environment through the challenges we faced.
These past several years of effort have laid the foundation for our new 2021-2025 Strategic Framework, which we will release later this fall. We’ve taken the lessons we learned and developed a vision we want to work toward. We are especially committed to upholding tribal sovereignty and prioritizing the leadership of Black-led movements in order to leverage our political power and privilege in the historically white-dominant environmental sector. I hope you will continue to stand with us as we take our next steps to achieve a more racially and environmentally just world.
