Rand Paul proudly blocked legislation that would provide support and health care funds for 9/11 first responders.
This is hypocrisy at its finest, John.
On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Rand Paul posted this message on Twitter: “#NeverForget the Americans who died on 9/11 & those who still sacrifice to this day to protect and defend us.”
In reality, Rand Paul proudly blocked legislation that would provide support and health care funds for 9/11 first responders, many of whom are still struggling with lung cancer and other illnesses caused by the brave work they did at Ground Zero and other locations.
As we reflect 20 years later, we must ask ourselves if we’ve lived up to our ability to care for one another and come together to fight against forces that seek to tear us down — just like we did in the face of the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Have we remembered the sacrifice, the love, and compassion we showed each other? I believe that the moment we are living in now calls on us to come together again as we face some of the most urgent crises in our country’s history — a pandemic, systemic racism, and climate change.
And I believe that we will. That’s why I’m running to replace Rand Paul and finally turn this tide of failed leadership. We’ve come together to move mountains before, and I know that together, we can do it again. We owe it to the thousands of troops who have sacrificed, some who gave their lives for this country, to respect their service today and every day.
