Have you seen the news from here in Ohio? J.D. Vance was just endorsed by Josh Hawley — a leading proponent of the January 6th insurrection.
We know, a racist GOP extremist is endorsed by another racist GOP extremist… birds of a feather, right? But here’s what makes this so dangerous. Josh Hawley isn’t just any extremist senator, he openly encouraged the attack on our capital on January 6th. Here he is during the January 6th riots raising his fist in solidarity with insurrectionists:
Josh Hawley was boldly showing support and encouraging the mob of insurrectionists to continue on their path of violence and destruction. Meanwhile, progressive staffers, volunteers, and congresspeople worked desperately to barricade themselves in their offices, fearing the worst if they came across any of the people storming the capitol.
This is getting seriously scary, John. Someone like J.D. Vance could really be our Ohio representation, but this is why we fight. We’re fighting for every staffer and worker at the Capitol who had to feel afraid that day — for just doing their job. We’re fighting for every person who felt afraid watching the TV at home or scrolling through Twitter at work. We’re fighting back against people like this. It’s high time we give power back to communities all across Ohio — that means working communities and communities of color who have been ignored for decades.
