We’re enjoying relatively nice weather today, but let’s not forget that our city was pummeled with three tropical storms this summer – the last of which killed more than a dozen New Yorkers – along with multiple heat waves.
Next week is Climate Week here in New York City. And we encourage you to join us for the following events:
Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 12:00 PM Jasmine Graham will participate in a Building Energy Exchange panel discussing how environmental justice considerations will impact decision-making and planning in New York City, particularly with respect to its built environment. RSVP
Wednesday, Sept. 22 As part of its week-long series of virtual events, TAZO will showcase a video of Peggy Shepard explaining the need for climate justice. The video will be shared on TAZO's Instagram channel and will be introduced by celebrated singer and songwriter SZA. Follow @TAZO on Instagram to see this and other climate justice content!
Thursday, Sept. 23 at 12:00 PM Join us for a Gas Free NYC rally to demand that the New York City Council pass Intro 2317, legislation that will eliminate natural gas hookups in new construction and gut renovations. We will meet at the City Hall Park fountain (Broadway & Park Row). RSVP Thursday, Sept. 23 at 1:00 PM Peggy Shepard will speak on the New York City Mayor’s Office Climate Week panel, From Grassroots to Policy: Government Action on Environmental Justice. RSVP
Thursday, Sept. 23 at 6:00 PM
6:00 PM – Taylor Morton will conduct a climate justice teach-in. Join us to learn more about the movement and how you can get involved! RSVP
As much as we love Climate Week, we are working to achieve climate justice every week of the year. Below are some examples of how we’re raising the issue in the media. And you can get involved as well by joining our Climate Justice Working Group, which meets the fourth Wednesday of every month. Learn More
