The increase in extreme weather events,
like the wildfires burning across the western states and hurricanes that just tore through the south, make it clear that we must take immediate action to protect our planet and strengthen our response to climate change — before it’s too late.
That’s why I introduced the POWER ON Act, which will enhance our ability to utilize renewable energy sources and drive economic growth by modernizing our national power grid to be more resilient in the face of extreme weather events, and promoting the interstate transmission of electricity. This in turn, provides renewable energy at a low cost to regions we’ve never reached before.
