Hello John,

BREAKING! New Aquarium Investigation Released Today!

I am writing to let you know about our brand new investigation into British aquariums which has been featured in the press ([link removed]) today! Read the full article in the Independent HERE! ([link removed])

The investigation exposes the welfare of animals in British aquariums, and the conservation status of species held too! This new evidence is a powerful tool in the fight to help animals in aquariums!

ANIMALS SUFFER IN AQUARIUMS
Our investigation uncovered stereotypic behaviour (a sign of mental illness), ill health and high death rates.

Our investigator observed:
* physically and mentally ill animals,
* overcrowded tanks
* lifeless fish.

Inspection reports revealed more worrying conditions for animals and some aquariums were not investigating deaths sufficiently, or even keeping records. One aquarium, where deaths were particularly high, was not taking any action to reduce mortalities.

CONSERVATION AND AQUARIUMS

In addition, our new report into the conservation status of species held in aquariums in Great Britain debunks the belief that aquarium tanks are filled with endangered species needing help. Using aquariums’ own data, we can reveal the vast majority of fish, amphibians and reptiles that British aquariums hold are not threatened in the wild, and don't need conserving at all! Marine animals are stolen from the ocean to live their lives exhibited in a tank, far from their natural environment.
