Friend,
I'm Jennessa, and I've been a part of LCV campaigns for the past six years. I've knocked on countless doors in my home state of New Hampshire, helped the community make hundreds of phone calls to our representatives, and organized town halls and rallies with one goal in mind: fighting for a safer, healthier, cleaner future, not just for my community, but communities across America.
I believe there needs to be a place for everyone in the environmental movement — because this fight is intersectional and it affects everything and everyone.
When enough of us bring our voices together and demand what's right from our leaders, we have real power and the ability to make real change.
Right now, we have the biggest opportunity ever to pass meaningful action on climate change in Congress. A bill is moving that would enable us to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, put our nation on a path to 100% clean energy by 2035, and deliver at least 40% of investments to communities of color and low-income communities that are impacted the most by fossil fuel pollution.
That's why I'm asking LCV supporters like you to come together and demand that your representative vote for ambitious climate action that doesn't leave any community behind.
Will you sign the petition and tell your Congressional representative to pass a reconciliation package that invests in clean energy, jobs, and justice now?
I know adding your voice will make a difference — trust me, I've seen that our representatives really do listen to us. And it's NEVER been more important to speak out for climate action than now, while Congress is returning from recess and will vote soon on the Build Back Better Act.
So much of what we've worked and organized for has led to this point — poised to pass the most ambitious action for climate ever, with the potential to create millions of good-paying union jobs and a new and more just clean energy economy.
But even though our voices are loud, polluters are spending millions to try to keep the status quo. We can't risk being drowned out by anti-environment misinformation and losing progress on climate action before it's too late.
This next week is so, so important for all of us and future generations —
please, add your voice and help us get even louder.
Please, join me and sign the petition — tell your representative to pass a reconciliation package with real climate action at the scale science demands NOW.
It scares me to think about what our future might look like if we let runaway climate change continue — and our communities — especially communities of color that are on the frontlines — facing the worst of climate-fueled floods, fires, and other disasters.
That's why I've organized and taken action with my community — and why I'm hoping you'll join me in contacting your representative too.
Thank you for reading this message and
taking action — we'll keep following up about how you can help during this critical push.
Thanks,
Jennessa Agnew
