Last spring, my Democratic colleagues and I passed the expanded Child Tax Credit as part of the American Rescue Plan -- without a single Republican vote. Today, millions of Americans will receive their third check.

And, working families are already feeling the benefits. In just two installments, these payments have helped put food on the table, cover the cost of care, and lift 3.3 million children out of poverty.

This is a huge deal, but the work doesn’t stop here. We are currently working to pass a historic budget that recognizes that working families are the basis of our economy and invests our resources accordingly.

In addition to extending the child tax credit, this package will guarantee access to childcare, paid family leave, and tuition-free community college. In short, the things that matter to working families .

We know these comprehensive policies are a better use of our country's resources than subsidizing the ultra-wealthy, which is why we are committed to ensuring they finally pay their share.
