John,

Now that the dust has settled, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the failed recall attempt in our great State of California.

Last night, voters soundly rejected the right-wing effort to remove the Governor. An overwhelming majority said "NO" to eliminating pandemic precautions and the dangerous wave of COVID-19 denialism in our state.

Reason prevailed, but we can't overlook how the national Republican Party has enabled radical candidates like Larry Elder and helped spread a more toxic brand of politics.

In addition, this recall effort came along with a surge of far-right extremism and anti-vaccine activism. Protestors on a heavy dose of misinformation made their presence felt at school board and city council meetings. And when elections haven’t gone their way, these same people turn to false claims of fraud.

Not only are many Republican lawmakers looking the other way, they are adding fuel to the fire, too afraid of opposing their right-wing base. It's a disturbing trend, and we need to collectively stand up against it.

Our campaign is about much more than keeping this seat blue. I hope we can help restore faith in facts, science, and democracy. I'm more committed than ever to this cause, and it's why I must ask:

The end of this month marks our FEC end-of-quarter deadline, and we need to make a strong statement that we are ready for what's to come. Can you please chip in $3 today? Your support will go a long way in stopping the far-right and keeping our majority in Congress intact.

Thank you,

Mike
