Dear Friend,

Every day children in our region are inhaling harmful diesel exhaust, especially children who live in and around Southern California’s port communities and near our major freeways. According to the EPA, exposure to diesel exhaust can lead to serious health conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart disease, and cancer. In fact, on-road diesel vehicles were responsible for nearly 50 percent of all air pollution-related deaths worldwide in 2015 (International Council of Clean Air, 2019).

In 2020, the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino had 157 bad air days for ozone pollution – the most days above the federal health standard since 1997. In order to make a significant impact on improving air quality and air pollution, we must meaningfully address the diesel problem and End Diesel Now!
Breathe Southern California is committed to advocating for the elimination of diesel fuel via our End Diesel Now campaign. This campaign seeks to promote and incentivize the transition from diesel trucks to clean trucks and calls for ending the sale, use, and distribution of diesel fuel in California. We don’t want our neighborhoods to experience the hardships that come with having asthma and other lung diseases. We can, and must, move toward a clean air future today.

If you’re ready to help our region move to end diesel, you can:
All of us at Breathe SoCal appreciate everything you do for us. Your continued support allows us to fight for clean air for everyone in Southern California. With your help, you’re as much Breathe SoCal as we are.
In health,
