John,
That was embarrassing… for Larry Elder and the California GOP.
In a special election where most would expect that the Democratic turnout would be low, Governor Newsom won by a bigger margin than when he was first elected.
The margin against the recall was almost 2 points higher than Gov. Newsom’s victory in 2018. Last night was more evidence that the GOP’s platform doesn’t reflect the American electorate. But it was also evidence that expanding the right to vote is the best way to win elections.
In California, the state automatically sent ballots to registered voters. Now, Texas is criminalizing sending vote-by-mail ballots and applications. The difference couldn’t be starker. We must stop the assault on voting rights. Can you donate to join our fight?

Gov. Newsom’s victory happened, in part, because California made it easier to vote and because of the massive voter-contact efforts. Now, these voter contact efforts were expensive and the midterms are right around coming up quickly. John, can you chip in $25 to support our voter contact program?
Thank you,
