Happy Latinx Heritage Month! From September 15th - October 15th, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of Latinx champions to our history and culture, people like Cesar Chavez, Sylvia Rivera and Berta Caceres, and community leaders advancing equity and change today. This month serves as a reflection of our mission as we continue to build on our efforts to advance racial equity, grassroots power and opportunities for Black and Brown Floridians. Florida is one of the largest states in the country with a fast growing Latinx population. We know that our community is targeted with disinformation and dog whistle politics, and we must create the programs that our community needs and deserves. This year we launched Imagine, Resiste, Lead Fellowship, a 16 week leadership program that seeks to introduce Latinx youth to social justice movements. Participants dive into local, state and national politics, while participating in organizing campaigns on issues they are passionate about. We have built a promotoras de la verdad program where ambassadors connect on whatsapp, online, and in person to speak the truth, and we have Covid Education canvassers out in five counties to educate our communities in the face of disinformation.
