Dear Patriot,
Buried in the headlines last week was a
victory for the Second Amendment, Campaign for Liberty, and YOU.
The nomination of anti-gun zealot David
Chipman to head the ATF is officially dead.
Chipman's nomination was withdrawn last week,
and he went out with a whimper.
According to Fox News:
The White House is withdrawing the nomination
of David Chipman to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and
Firearms (ATF), Fox News has confirmed.
Chipman, who had a history of caustic
comments about gun owners and worked for gun control groups for
years after his career as an ATF agent, was staunchly opposed by
Republicans. But he struggled to gain the support of several
Democrats, who never explicitly opposed Chipman's nomination but
also never publicly supported him either.
Chipman was also a main character at the Waco
debacle in 1993.
While the left's failure to move this
nomination didn't make big headlines, this is a big win, and your
months of dedication to this cause had a big hand in sending
Chipman packing.
We at Campaign for Liberty thank you!
That's the great news.
The not-so-great news is Senator Richard
Durbin (D-IL) is undoubtedly looking forward to who will be the
next nominee for this post at an agency that should not even
exist!
Durbin has called on the president to send
another nominee "as soon as possible."
The ATF has a long history of being hostile
to the Second Amendment, and no matter who is nominated next by
President Biden, you can bet their goal will be to target
law-abiding gun owners for more weapons bans and harassment.
For those reasons, you and I must remain
vigilant and watch very closely for the next anti-gun nominee to
be thrown at us.
Not only that but you can bet the gun
grabbers Congress are chomping at the bit to force gun control
measures into law when you least expect it.
When that happens, I have every reason to
believe that you and I will be able to shut them down once again.
Within just hours of the nomination of
Chipman back in April of this year, you sprang into action,
signed petitions, and started calling your senators to demand
they oppose him.
And it worked!
Please consider a donation of $25, $75, or
even $150 to keep Campaign for Liberty's defense of the Second
Amendment going strong!
We could not have won this battle without
your generosity, so I hope you can dig deep and contribute so
we'll be prepared for all future threats.
Although it's hard to imagine a WORSE nominee
than Chipman, there is no shortage of gun grabbers in the ranks
of the political class, and President Biden is sure to find
another to nominate.
We at Campaign for Liberty will certainly be
on the lookout.
Do not forget that the Biden Agenda included
some of the worst and most restrictive gun registration and
confiscation bills that we've ever seen.
A few of them passed Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA)
House and are still waiting for votes in the Senate but have
stalled . . . at least for now!
The stalling of those Second Amendment
shredding bills like H.R. 127, H.R. 8, and H.R. 1446 has
frustrated the gun grabber lobby in Washington, and they were
poised to ram through the Chipman nomination so he could carry
out what's in those bills through the executive branch.
Now that they failed to get their anti-gun
zealot Chipman in, look out for even more propaganda and reckless
action to come after our right to self-protection.
Even the Center for Disease Control, when not
busy spreading COVID disinformation and dictating new "laws" such
as their rent moratorium, recently said that guns are going to be
a priority for them.
You and I have certainly won every round, but
that just means the opposition will hit back harder next time.
With all the fights for medical freedom
taking up our time and energy, it's easy to forget what Congress
has attempted to pass to take away firearms.
Patriot, multiple anti-gun threats are still
on the table -- don't be surprised to see them rolled out once
again.
There's no doubt in my mind the anti-gunners
will exploit any tragedy to further their political goals.
For now, you and I can celebrate that David
Chipman's nomination was denied, and it was completely due to the
work and action of activists such as yourself.
Victories in Washington do not come easy,
which makes this even more encouraging.
But it's certainly not time to rest on our
laurels.
I cannot stress enough that 2021 is a very
dangerous time for liberty. You and I must remain vigilant.
For Liberty,
John McCardell
Executive Director
P.S. Staying true to their mantra of "never
let a good crisis go to waste," the Big Government elites are
showing themselves to be determined to run roughshod over the
Second Amendment while they enact their socialist agenda.
