We did it. We defeated the recall of Gavin Newsom.

Your activism, your support, and your dedication played a huge part in this victory. But our work is far from over.

The same forces at work who led this failed Republican recall in California are the ones subverting and threatening our democracy in other parts of the country.

They reject their own humiliating defeats by falsely claiming voter fraud.

Just like their craven leader, Donald Trump.

Trump alleged voter fraud in California in 2016. In 2020. And again Monday:

“Does anybody really believe the California Recall Election isn’t rigged? Millions and millions of Mail-In Ballots will make this just another giant Election Scam, no different, but less blatant, than the 2020 Presidential Election Scam!” —Trump

It’s the same damn, cynical, political playbook. Spread misinformation. Confuse the voters. Subvert our democracy. Repeat.

Make no mistake. Democracy prevailed yesterday on the ballot in California. No matter how loud Trump wails or tries to drag our country to the abyss of dictatorship, the American people are fighting back. People like you and me.
