Dear John,
Californians have cast their votes, resoundingly reaffirming their commitment to a more restorative and rehabilitative California. As ballots continue to come in and be counted, we want to highlight and thank our system-impacted community who engaged in a very important recall election. We want to give a special shout out to those on parole who were able to vote in this election, some for the very first time, due to the passage of Prop. 17. Your voice matters in every election and on every issue.
Now that voters have reaffirmed their commitment to the Governor’s vision for the state, we look forward to working with the Governor’s office to continue to reduce our prison population, offering meaningful programming to incarcerated people, pathways to freedom, and robust reentry opportunities that allow formerly incarcerated people to overcome barriers while becoming valued community members across California.
As we look towards the future we want to remind our community that, regardless of who holds office, ARC will continue to advocate for our communities, both incarcerated and free.
As always, the work continues.
