Join Washington Conservation Voters and Local County Council Candidates Kim-Khanh Van (King), Brandy Donaghy (Snohomish), and Rebecca Lewis (Whatcom) for a virtual Town Hall on September 30th from 5:30-6:30pm. 

Pro-environment local governments are a crucial factor in creating an equitable, just, and healthy environment for all, especially on issues like housing justice, clean water, and public transportation.

County Council candidates Kim-Khanh Van, Brandy Donaghy, and Rebecca Lewis will discuss what environmental justice, equitable economic recovery, and public health mean to them. Learn how they plan to bring change to their communities and how you can help them win!

ABOUT THE CANDIDATES

Kim-Khanh Van is a Renton City Councilmember, immigration attorney, and community leader. Her experience as a refugee, family translator, and first-generation college student drive her current work to lead as a Councilmember to focus on mitigating the harms of covid19 and ensure vulnerable families, small businesses, and local needs are centered. If elected, Kim-Khanh Van would be the only woman of color to currently serve on the King County Council.

Brandy Donaghy is a community organizer, Navy veteran and disaster relief volunteer leader in Snohomish County. As the daughter of a RN and an environmental justice minded leader, Brandy is focused on community resiliency, including disaster planning, supporting elders, and planning housing solutions where safety is a priority and developers are held accountable.      

Rebecca Lewis is a teacher at Cascade Middle School and the president of the local education union (SWEA). Lewis says she is driven to run for county council based on her experiences as a union member, an educator, and a special needs mom. Her areas of focus as a community member and elected official will be protecting living wage jobs, investing in rural infrastructure, and protecting clean water in the district (Lake Whatcom and the Nooksack River).
