A federal judge has officially blocked Governor Kim Reynolds’ law that bans Iowa schools from requiring masks.

Big news, team:

A federal judge has officially blocked Governor Kim Reynolds’ law that bans Iowa schools from requiring masks.

This is a major blow to Gov. Reynolds’ attempt to take local control away from our school districts, and will temporarily allow them to put mask requirements in place if they feel that will best protect students and staff from COVID-19.

This decision comes after a number of families sued the state of Iowa for failing to properly protect children with existing medical conditions, and as COVID cases in children continue to rise at an alarming rate with the spread of the Delta variant.

It’s a great step in the right direction to hold Gov. Reynolds accountable for her power grab. But in 2022, we can finish the job by voting her out at the ballot box and giving Iowa a leader who will empower communities to do what’s best for them.

Our campaign for governor is just two weeks away from our very first End of Quarter fundraising deadline. Can you rush $10 or more today to help me fight for every Iowan as our state’s next governor?
