Friends –
For me, one of the bright spots of these challenging pandemic months has been the virtual Queer Artist Meet-Up, one of the core elements of the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Southern Equality Studios program. Every week, LGBTQ artists have come together to discuss their work, learn or share a skill, share recent work, or have higher-level conversations about the intersections of art, social justice, and community.
Now we are looking forward to deepening our connections with one artist, through our 2021-2022 Southern Equality Studios Artist in Residence program. The goals of this residency include increasing the visibility of Southern LGBTQ artists and makers – especially artists of color in NC – creating and improving access to funding and exhibition opportunities for artists, and creating work which represents or otherwise amplifies the voices of LGBTQ people in the South.
Visual artists of any media are encouraged to apply, especially those with experience in community based work. Click here to learn more and apply for the Southern Equality Studios Artist Residency.
