John,
For decades, toxic chemicals called PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) have leached into our food and water supplies. These chemicals are posing major health risks to communities, and more than 200 million people in the U.S. could have PFAS-contaminated drinking water.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced it will limit PFAS in waterways, but its plan doesn’t go far enough to protect our water — and it'll take years to implement.
The good news? Stronger legislation with faster timelines to jump-start protection of our drinking water from PFAS already exists. Urge your senators to not wait for the EPA and pass the PFAS Action Act and the Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability (WATER) Act.

The PFAS Action Act would require the EPA to set drinking water standards for PFOA and PFOS (the two most studied PFAS chemicals), make polluters pay to clean up their contamination, and take steps to finally address the public health threat of PFAS.
The WATER Act would provide a long-term, sustainable source of funding for safe and clean water, and make it possible for states, localities and households to take real action to get PFAS, lead and other toxic substances out of water.
Safe water is non-negotiable. Clean drinking water is a human right, and people should not have to worry about whether their water is safe to drink. Urge your senators to pass the WATER Act and the PFAS Action Act of 2021!

For years the EPA has made — and broken — promises to set safety standards and protect people from widespread PFAS contamination. We cannot afford any further delay when it comes to removing these chemicals from our drinking water with enforceable regulations, and ensuring the biggest polluters are held accountable for cleaning up their rampant contamination.
These toxic chemicals should be nowhere near our food and water. It’s time for the Senate to step up and protect our drinking water. Communities have waited too long already.
Send a message now: Tell your senators to support the WATER Act and the PFAS Action Act of 2021.
