Hello Friend,
The past few weeks have been busy, but we've been able to share a lot of great information through some really good conversations with our elected officials AND the community. Accordingly, we wanted to make sure that you didn't miss out on any of it, so we attached it all here for you to check out whenever you have the time!
On 8/26, we were joined by Clark County Commission Chair Marilyn Kirkpatrick on Out in Front with Annette for a conversation about Nevada's recovery, especially in Southern Nevada, where housing insecurity and COVID cases are urgent issues.
Speaking of COVID, on 8/31 I had the chance to head back to the barber shop for another episode of Shop Talk: Haircuts and Hot Takes, where the barbers and I were joined by State Senator Dallas Harris and Clinical Nurse (and USAF veteran) Christa Spell to talk about the Child Tax Credit, vaccine hesitancy in marginalized communities, the vaccine's, and what sending kids back to school looks like in this new normal.
We continued the momentum with our 9/2 episode of Out in Front with Annette, where we were joined by Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01) and Treasurer Zach Conine for a discussion on the statewide listening tour regarding the American Rescue Plan, and the hypocrisy of some elected officials that love touting the very legislation they voted against.
And lastly, we were joined on 9/7 by Governor Steve Sisolak and a returning Treasurer Conine for a telephone town hall around their above mentioned listening tour. The recording is attached for you to check out if you weren't able to join us. We were fortunate and grateful to have them spend some of their time with us. Callers had a fantastic, productive dialogue with the Governor and Treasurer about where and how American Rescue Plan dollars should be spent, and how to be further involved as state and local governments make these critical decisions.
For the past few weeks, we've been hard at work planning all of these events to ensure elected officials at every level are hearing directly from Nevadans about the issues most important to them. And as always, we encourage you to get involved! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter (if you aren't already), and don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel as well.
Until next time, take great care!
