Patriot,
Today is a tough day. One of the least qualified, and most vindictive, hypocritical and naïve Governors in our nation’s history survived a recall and will continue to oversee our great state. It is understandable that we as conservatives, and anxious residents, are feeling disappointed. Our hopes were raised and then dashed. We awoke in a state that is trending towards lawlessness, painfully excessive taxation, failing public schools, and sheer incompetence in the management of our natural and financial resources. And voters seemed to endorse it all.
It would be easy – very easy in fact, to throw in the towel. That is after all what the Democrats are pushing for on every level. Aided and abetted by the media they are pressing hard, and they are likely quite confident that the recall effort was our last hurrah.
But I believe they are wrong. I know thousands of volunteers sacrificed their own time to get this recall on the ballot. Thousands of donors from all walks of financial life gave what they could – and even Democrats by the hundreds of thousands signed a petition essentially saying, enough is enough.
In addition to that energy and determination, we have an ace in the hole. We are right on the issues. That is our saving grace and we have to build on it. I can tell you as someone that has personally knocked on over 10,000 California doors, we DO NOT have a party registration issue. What we have is a voter education issue. It’s a challenge to be sure – and we can see it as such or we can see it as a great opportunity. I choose the latter. I hope you will as well.
It is often said that it is darkest before the dawn. This much is absolutely certain – if we don’t fight like hell for common sense governance in our beautiful state there will be no dawn. In time the tax base will vanish at the same time spending continues through the roof. California will become unlivable much like major sections of LA County and San Francisco County.
So it’s okay for us to drag a bit today and worst case maybe into the weekend. But then we dust off and renew our commitment to fight for every precinct, municipality, county, and our state. We cease the taunting and criticizing, and focus on educating. Let one word drive us forward from here: RELENTLESS!
