It's Paul Begala, President Clinton's former advisor. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to donate to Colin Allred’s reelection campaign. But first, I’d like to explain why his presence in Congress is essential.

For the past few months, the Texas GOP has been working to pass voting restrictions that have been called “Jim Crow 2.0.” Texas was already one of the hardest states to vote in the United States, and now, with partisan poll watchers allowed to intimidate voters and severe restrictions on early voting and vote-by-mail, the simple act of casting a ballot will be an uphill battle for many Texans.

As a former advisor to President Bill Clinton, I’ve seen the power that Southern Democrats can bring to federal policymaking, and I recognize Colin as a rising star of that caliber. Democrats from the South are often known for their solutions-driven approach to legislating, and Colin Allred is no exception. As a former civil rights lawyer and lifelong Texan, Colin brings to Congress the experience and perspective necessary to protect voting rights and change our country for the better.

So, now I’m asking: Can you please chip in to his campaign to ensure his crucial voice remains in Congress?

Thanks,

Paul
