CLCV Member,

Thank you to everyone who voted, volunteered, and donated to oppose this dangerous recall. Because of your support, Governor Gavin Newsom is projected to defeat the recall effort.

This is a victory for California, our values, and our future, and we are grateful that the progressive community came together to defeat the Republican recall. It is an incredible relief that California’s environmental policies and climate actions are safe for the time being, but this recall has been a distraction that has only taken resources and attention away from solving the climate crisis. California is still suffering through escalating wildfires, historic drought, extreme heat, and more. None of that has gone away, and our state is still in a climate emergency.

The collective action from the progressive movement that defeated the recall is exactly what we need to defeat the climate crisis. We must come together to prioritize policies that will begin the transition to a clean energy economy that supports good-paying union jobs, electrify our transportation and buildings, phase out fossil fuels, and create climate resiliency across our landscapes and communities.

Voters across the state and party lines want their leaders to prioritize the climate crisis, and this sentiment was further echoed by the clear rejection of this recall. Now it’s time to get to work; our state is still in crisis.

Thank you – this work wouldn’t be possible without your partnership.

We believe that transformational change is necessary and only by transforming our political system will we create the opportunity to take bold action on climate change. We elect and cultivate environmental champions, turn election victories into policy wins, hold our lawmakers accountable, and build political power for change. We inspire hope and action and fight for equity and justice for all Californians. We are in the business of changing what’s possible.
