In a letter to both House and Senate offices, we declared that our connected political committee, LCV Action Fund, will only consider endorsements for members of Congress if they support provisions in the upcoming reconciliation bill to enable cutting U.S. carbon pollution in half by 2030.

This is the second time in our history we've made a call like this. And it's happening as the House and Senate debate the final details of Biden's Build Back Better Act, a bill that could be the most significant legislation in a generation on climate, clean energy, justice, and jobs.

Friend — notice I said "could." The oil and gas industry is pressuring lawmakers hard to strip climate provisions from the bill right now. And to pass the bill, we need 50 votes — every single Democrat in the Senate — to support the bill. If they pick off even one vote, we lose.
