Hello John!
We recently asked our members to report misinformation to us that they see on social media, TV, radio or even conspiracy theories being spread in their local communities.
While we’re still looking into many of the reports people have sent to us so far, we’d like to bring your attention to a misleading ad one of our members flagged that is paid for by PhRMA, an organization representing major pharmaceutical companies. The deceptive ad alleges that allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices will make it harder for people to get their prescriptions.
THIS IS FALSE.
Right now Congressional Democrats are working to pass a budget reconciliation bill that will expand Medicare coverage to include dental, hearing and vision, AND empower Medicare to negotiate drug prices. That’s why Big Pharma is airing the ad -- they want to drum up public support against the bill so they don’t have to offer fair prices to Americans for prescription drugs.
Major pharmaceutical companies gouge Americans and charge more than they do for the same medicines in countries like Japan and Canada. The TRUTH is that allowing Medicare to directly negotiate drug prices will force pharmaceutical companies to bring down the costs. That's why Big Pharma is spending untold amounts of money on the airwaves to stop it from passing in Congress.
We have to beat back the misinformation when we see it, John. So many seniors would benefit from lower drug prices. We can’t let Big Pharma’s misleading ad get in the way.
Share our post about Big Pharma’s misleading ad on Facebook and help us beat back the misinformation!
