I wanted to give you an explanation of why I’m running for Congress and what this campaign means to me. If you don’t have time to read this, would you consider chipping in just $1 before midnight to help my team hit our mid-month goal?

My parents immigrated to this country, and I worked hard in school to earn a scholarship and become the first in my family to graduate from college.

I’ve experienced hardship. I know the sting of racism, the cut of homophobia, and I know how hard folks have to work with the deck stacked against them.

It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have forged my own path to success. So many people in this country have stories like mine, work as hard as I did, and remain stuck with stagnant wages and crushing poverty.

I’m sick of Washington, D.C. ignoring the problems working families face in this country -- healthcare, immigration reform, protecting voting rights, securing economic opportunities, all must be priorities to help working families, especially in this time of great hardship.
