Larry Elder is the Republican frontrunner in the California recall. And while polls are still open for 5 more hours and no one has announced a winner, Elder is already claiming Newsom has won and is blaming non-existent voter fraud.

Elder knows his far-right policies and dangerous criminal history will be rejected by Californians. So, now his campaign is doing what we told you they would do, repeating Trump’s Big Lie. Here’s what will happen next:

Republicans use every election they lose as so-called “proof” of voter fraud. We’ll see it in Virginia and New Jersey this year, all part of the Republican plan to undermine our democracy. Both California and Virginia have passed bills to expand voting rights which really irks Republicans since they have an easier time winning when voters are suppressed (see Texas).

When it comes to the midterms, Republicans have already implemented voter suppression bills in critical purple states like Georgia, Florida, and Texas.

The GOP misinformation is just beginning, we need to double down on voter education. Can you chip in $25 to support our voter education program?

Late last night, Elder’s campaign website added a page asking his supporters to sign on a petition to demand a:

“special session of the California legislature to investigate and ameliorate the twisted results of this 2021 Recall Election of Governor Gavin Newsom.”

The votes haven’t even been tallied yet, and he’s calling for an investigation. This is pathetic and what we can expect to see from Republicans across the country. Put an end to this misinformation now by supporting our grassroots organizing program that’s dedicated to reaching voters.
