Friend,

As wildfires continue to rage, Montana's air is taking a severe hit from the smoke and haze. You may have seen health advisories telling folks to stay inside. The impact of wildfire smoke can't be understated, especially as COVID-19 infection rates rise.

No matter how some of our politicians try to spin it, wildland fires in Montana have worsened as a result of climate change. And the fact is, we don't lack the solutions to reduce wildfires or end the climate crisis -- we lack the political will and bipartisan resolve to get it done.

Take our Governor Greg Gianforte. He tried to make a political point by withdrawing Montana from a US-wide alliance to prevent wildfires like these in the long run. Now, he's left begging the federal government for drought assistance and blames "environmental extremists" for these fires.

We're getting a little tired of the political games. Our kids deserve to have their health and safety taken seriously. They deserve to play outside without risking an asthma attack or respiratory damage. Our farmers and ranchers deserve to be able to make a living and carry on the family legacy.

I'm not afraid to call out leadership for actively making these problems worse. In Congress, I won't play partisan politics with our children and grandchildren's futures. Montanans deserve a leader who will treat this issue with the urgency it requires.

Thank you -- and stay safe out there.

Cora
