Friend,

I wanted you to be the first to know: I just introduced brand new voting rights legislation in the Senate. The Freedom to Vote Act is a critical piece of legislation I worked on with my colleagues to ensure we continue to have free and fair elections in this country.

The bill requires states to have at least 15 days of early voting and available same day voter registration. It also ensures eligible voters can vote by mail and improves the delivery of election mail. Simply put, this bill will protect our democracy.

It is also our best chance of combatting the new anti-voting laws we’re seeing pop up from state legislatures across the country, including in Montana. This is plain wrong. And instead of working with me to strengthen our elections, Mitch McConnell and his GOP colleagues have blocked the past two attempts to even debate this type of legislation on the Senate floor in front of the American people.

Enough is enough. The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy and it’s time for the Republicans to stop playing political games.

That’s why I’m asking for your signature on my petition demanding Republicans allow the Freedom to Vote Act a fair vote. [[link removed]]

Without Republican cooperation, this bill is likely to die on the Senate floor, and that’s something we just cannot afford — especially right now, as GOP-led state legislatures attempt to make it harder to vote all over the country.

Thanks for making your voice heard. I’m proud to have you on the team.

— Jon
