John,
With Congress back in session as of yesterday, the stage is set for our once-in-a-generation opportunity to win big and bold investments in our communities.
Here’s the situation: Committee hearings and negotiations are underway in the House and Senate on the shape of a $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill that invests in climate action, expanded healthcare coverage, pathways to citizenship, public housing, and raises taxes on the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations.
Here’s the problem: It has become increasingly clear that a few obstructionist corporate Democrats in the House and the Senate are more worried about protecting their fossil fuel and Big Pharma megadonors than standing with working people. That’s why we’re organizing to hold them accountable on the ground right now.
In a minute, we’re going to bring you up to speed on our plans to win the agenda we deserve. But first, we have to ask: Can you chip in $3 or any amount to our September Organizing Fund? We’re hoping to raise $10,000 ASAP to make sure every member of Congress understands the urgency of this moment.

Despite Democratic control of the White House, the Senate, and the House, we know majorities can be fleeting. That’s why there’s no time to waste on the passage of this historic reconciliation bill, which includes multiple major pieces of our agenda.
With negotiations moving quickly, we’re nailing down more components of our plan every day. But here’s some of what’s in the works:
-
We will run digital ads targeting many of the corporate Democrats who are trying to shrink or kill the reconciliation package in Congress,
-
We’re organizing actions in key states that will include demonstrations outside of House and Senate district offices, direct voter contact, and more,
-
We’re placing op-eds and pushing out the stories of working people in key districts and states where corporate Democrats are trying to block our progress,
-
We’re planning in-person actions in Arizona and West Virginia to push Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin down the home stretch of congressional negotiations,
-
And we’re mobilizing WFP members and supporters to take action in their own communities in states across the country.
This was never going to be an easy fight. We’re up against big corporations like Exxon and Disney, who are spending millions lobbying Congress and trying to stop us. And corporate Democrats like Josh Gottheimer and Henry Cuellar are happy to do their bidding while taking money from the Wall Street banks and corporate PACs trying to protect their bottom lines.
But our movement is powerful. And if enough of us come together right now, we know that we can beat them. If you're ready to fight the corporate special interests with people power, chip in to our September Organizing Fund goal of $10,000 today, and let’s make sure we do everything possible this month to win a once-in-a-generation victory for working people.

In solidarity,
