Dear Friend, I’m Amadou Diallo, Senior Communications Officer in Mali. I’m one of thousands of Mercy Corps team members around the world united in one mission: to help build a brighter future for the communities we live in and work alongside. Every day, my colleagues carry out their work with compassion and determination, collaborating with communities to respond to emergencies and support long-term, positive change in places like Haiti, Afghanistan, and my home country of Mali. Following the earthquake in Haiti last month, my colleagues there have been navigating damaged roads and challenging logistics to distribute essential supplies and provide cash assistance to 5,000 families. In Afghanistan — where we reached 370,000 people across the country last year — our teams will be working to support relief efforts as soon as it is safe to do so. And here in Mali, my team is working alongside local gardening groups to improve farming practices and provide seeds to help communities thrive, despite regular food and water shortages. I’m proud of our hard work, and of all of our teams at Mercy Corps, and I hope you are too. We’re collecting messages to share with our teams who have dedicated their lives to helping others. Will you send a note of support and appreciation to my fellow Mercy Corps team members?
Despite delays caused by shortages of fuel and supplies, Mercy Corps Deputy Program Manager Cassendy helps unpack a truck full of diapers in Haiti after the recent earthquake.
As a part of the Mercy Corps community helping to make this work possible, your words of encouragement would mean so much to my fellow humanitarians in Mali, Haiti, Afghanistan, and in countries all across the globe. Send your message of thanks to Mercy Corps teams — they’ll be so glad you did. Thank you for your support today and every day. Sincerely,
Amadou works to raise community members' voices by sharing their stories. He feels privileged to be part of helping people overcome hardships and create more productive lives.
