John,
Military-style assault rifles have yet to be banned from our streets, even though they are specifically designed for mass destruction. But what’s worse is they’re being marketed to teenagers and potential mass shooters.
Smith & Wesson’s “M&P” line of military-style assault rifles have repeatedly been used in deadly assaults waged by teenage gunmen – like in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where the 19-year-old shooter was armed with a Smith & Wesson rifle and murdered 14 children and three of their teachers.
That’s why Brady joined Fred Guttenberg and Everytown for Gun Safety in taking major action against the assault rifle manufacturer Smith & Wesson. Their deceptive and dangerous marketing practices have deadly consequences and I will not sit idly by while more lives are put at risk – so we’re demanding an investigation from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Far too many families have experienced tragedy because of these deceptive practices. Military-style assault rifles should never be marketed to young people and potential mass shooters. Will you join us in calling on the FTC to take immediate action to hold Smith & Wesson accountable for their role in the gun violence epidemic?
Gun manufacturers have a responsibility to prevent these tragedies, but Smith & Wesson’s deceptive marketing practices have demonstrated time and again that they will not act responsibly. And if they don’t change their practices, these shootings will keep happening. Just last year, 17-year-old shooter Kyle Rittenhouse used a Smith & Wesson M&P assault rifle to senselessly kill two people at a protest in Kenosha, WI.
The FTC must ensure that Smith & Wesson acts responsibly and stops their unfair and deceptive marketing practices – and we need your help to make sure it happens. We cannot allow any more families to suffer tragedies because of irresponsible gun manufacturers that dangerously market weapons of war to the public. Please, John, will you join me and add your name to our petition to hold Smith & Wesson accountable for their role in senseless gun violence across the country?
Thank you.
Brady
