Today, American families received their third monthly child tax credit payments under the American Rescue Plan’s expansion.

Read these quick facts about the expanded CTC, then add your name if you agree they should be made permanent:

- The Treasury made 36 million payments last month -- including more than 2 million in the State of New York and close to 47,000 to households in our local community.
- Over $15 billion were distributed to households housing more than 61 million children -- including 13,700 kids growing up in neighborhoods across New York’s 8th Congressional District.
- Feedback from the Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey shows food insecurity at its lowest since the pandemic began. Fifty percent of survey respondents reported the funds directly helped them cover grocery costs.
- Additional data from the Bureau’s survey reveals that 25 percent of American parents used their CTC benefits on clothes for their kids.

Everything we’ve heard from families across the country tells us that the child tax credit expansion is making a big difference as parents work to care for their kids and sustain themselves during the pandemic.

As Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Hakeem Jeffries is leading the charge to make these new payments permanent so moms and dads can budget with the confidence that they can rely on these resources for years to come.
