In 2017, when Republicans had the majority, they used the reconciliation process to pass enormous tax breaks for the billionaire class and large corporations. Now, we are using reconciliation in a different way―by helping ordinary people and creating a government that works for all, not just the few.
I was recently in Detroit with Rep. Rashida Tlaib, to discuss with voters the most significant piece of legislation to benefit working families since the New Deal and the Great Depression: the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package, which the U.S. House will soon vote on.
Rashida is fighting by my side to ensure billionaires and corporations pay their fair share of taxes, to take on the greed of the pharmaceutical industry, and finally begin the process of combating climate change.
