Friend --
The climate crisis is one we simply cannot ignore.
From wildfires, floods, intense temperatures, and everything in between -- extreme weather has become a pressing issue impacting our day-to-day routines, threatening to change everything about the way we live -- and we're running out of time to do something about it.
To be quite frank, we've been out of time, and every moment that passes without action is increasing the ongoing climate threats.
Here in New York, we recently experienced a “one in a hundred-year flood” brought about by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The floods were so devastating that thousands of folks experienced the loss of power, damaged property, and dozens of road closures. Sadly, 52 people in the Northeast have lost their lives as a result of Ida.
But climate change is an issue experienced nationwide, and it's impacting some of our most vulnerable communities. From California to Texas, to right here in New York and everywhere in between -- folks across the country are having to deal with the hardships brought on by the climate crisis. All the while, Congress isn't doing enough help.
We can't afford to wait, team. We need aggressive climate action now to mitigate future crises and preserve our planet for the next generations. If you're with me, please add your name to the petition to urge my colleagues in Congress to act now.
There's no denying it: We need to take bold action to address climate change
now. It's not just about the environment, but about protecting public health and bolstering our economy by expanding green energy.
There is plenty we can do to combat this crisis
and deliver good-paying jobs in the process. Investing in green jobs will help us transition to a green economy and invest in climate-resilient infrastructure that will secure our future for generations to come.
, the need for bold climate action has never been more urgent. We can't keep dragging our feet on this. Please join me in urging my colleagues to take immediate action to combat the climate crisis by signing the petition.
In solidarity,
Antonio
