As I'm sure many of you know, earlier this month the Supreme Court refused to block an extreme anti-choice bill in Texas from becoming law.
This new legislation directly contradicts Roe v. Wade and, in doing so, endangers the lives of millions of people. These extreme restrictions seek to criminalize doctors who provide care for their patients.
That is one of the many reasons why we must protect and uphold Roe v. Wade.
I always have and always will oppose any proposals that limit reproductive care options for people. I believe that personal health care decisions should be made by patients and their doctors -- not by extremist lawmakers.
This fight isn't over, friend. The Justice Department has announced a lawsuit against the state of Texas, and Congress has the power to pass legislation to protect reproductive freedom. I have sponsored such legislation and will be pushing to get it passed.
