Dear John,
Today is the day. The day when our votes are counted and we say NO to the effort to recall Governor Gavin Newsom. The day when we stand up for public education, labor rights, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and for sensible climate change policy. Today is the day we defend the California that we have worked together for years to build.
Today, September 14, is the last day to mail your ballot, to drop it off at a county-approved dropbox, or to go to the polls to vote. You can make a difference by making sure that you and your family and friends have all turned in your ballots to vote NO on the recall. This election has been close from the beginning and today, perhaps more than ever before, every vote counts!
Together, we have worked for months to turn the tide on this cynical recall, one that is wasting over $200 million in taxpayer dollars, money that should be spent on our schools and in our communities. Standing alongside our partners in the labor movement, we have made thousands of phone calls and knocked on thousands of doors. We have texted and emailed and held virtual meetings to remind our friends and colleagues: vote NO on the recall.
And it all comes down to today.
Your vote is critical, and educators and classified workers must be heard. If you have lost your ballot, need to find a county-approved dropbox, or aren’t sure where to go to vote in person, please check your county elections page for more information. If you can join us for a “Get Out The Vote” phone bank today, please sign up to make calls with your fellow CFT members and the California Labor Federation.
Thank you for all you have already done and for all you will do today to ensure victory.
In Solidarity,
Jeffery M. Freitas
CFT President
